The SPLAYD® was invented in Australia in 1943 by William McArthur who saw women trying to balance food, plates and silverware on their laps. He believed there should be one piece of cutlery that could do the job of three.

The SPLAYD® design was sold to Australian tableware manufacturer Stokes Pty in 1960. Stokes developed the SPLAYD® for mass production in 1962 when buffet lunches and barbecues were becoming popular in Australia. They caught on quickly and became the favorite unique wedding gift in the 1970’s.

By 1991 4.75 million SPLAYD® sets had sold in 52 countries.

In January 2005, Cambur Industries Pty Ltd purchased the Trade Mark and all distribution rights, Australia and International.  In the Spring of 2010, Aussie Essentials became the exclusive distributor in the United States and Canada.

It is a household name in Australia. It has changed the way people eat… single-handed.

This incredibly functional and unique eating utensil is always a favorite gift for wedding and anniversary gifts. It is ideal for entertaining guests and will save on washing so many utensils after a party.

The SPLAYD® will soon become your favorite eating utensil. You will fall in love with it after digging into your favorite meal using a SPLAYD® for the first time.

The spoon portion of the SPLAYD® is perfectly rounded to hold food as a normal spoon, and sleekly designed to enable it to cut meat. The edges are perfectly sharpened enough on both sides to enable you to cut meat, but not too sharp where they will cut your mouth.

The prongs on the end are deep enough to hold a hearty bite of your most desired foods.

The mini SPLAYD® is the first choice for toddlers or just for enjoying a dessert. Once a toddler uses a mini SPLAYD® he/she will always ask to use one over anything else.

The SPLAYD® is made of dishwasher safe 18/8 stainless steel.
