"I started with the salad.  The tines were adequate to spear the salad, though no better than a fork at first.  It was better than a fork once the bigger pieces of salad were gone.  It easily scooped the little bacon bits and pomegranate seeds I would have struggled to pick up with a fork.  I am not one to walk away while there are still bacon bits on the plate.  Even if they are microscopic bits.  My wife tells me it is impolite to pick up the plate and lick it, so it was nice to be able to scoop them effectively.

The splayd does have a bevel on the edge that makes it slightly more effective than a fork for cutting.  It is not sharp, and you are not risking cutting your cheeks, but there is enough of an edge to make it useful. The splayd is also sturdy, it was not going to bend while I was cutting with it.

We finished with dessert.  Cake and ice cream.  Splayd worked great there.I got thinking over dessert that I could actually see myself using a splayd.  It is at least as effective as traditional utensils for most food, and more effective for some.  I thought my kids would probably get a kick out of the novelty, and I like the idea of having fewer utensils to wash." Blake Taylor-Syracuse, Utah

I have been searching for Splayds for a long time now. We actually grew up with Splayds. Everyone in my family loved using them for meals in lieu of traditional forks and spoons. My mother had a set she had purchased at a rummage sale. One by one they disappeared. She believes a couple were stolen and that my brother lost the rest. Today only one remains, and because it is her last one only she is allowed to use it.

My mother is notoriously hard to buy for when it comes to holidays because she has no hobbies and doesn't really want anything. I had the idea to locate some Splayds for her but was unsuccessful as I did not know what they were called or how to find them. When she told me that she would like a new set if I could find them I decided to resume my search. On a whim I checked a wikipedia article on sporks thinking that perhaps I wasn't looking for a traditional spork but maybe it was considered a special kind of spork and would be referenced. As it turns out, I was right! Once I knew the proper name for a Splayd it took no time at all to locate you and place my order. My mother and my brother will each be getting a set for Christmas, and I fully intend to purchase another set for myself one of these days!  Diana Hester, Missouri

After using a splayd utensil at a friend's house on New Year's Day, we "googled" splayd and found them on  Amazon.com.  It had a link to your company.  The Splayd utensils arrived and we really like them.  I'm sure they will be used on a daily basis.  Bob & Neta Stillman, Hawaii
